Food Science

Freshmen

Course work includes: Introduction to food science I, intro to food science  II, food and culture, ag careers, intro to human nutrition, sensory evaluation of food, food industry I.  Students will be introduced to and participate in the Lyman Hall FFA Chapter. Students will start to develop a portfolio and build skills to prepare for college and future careers in the food science industry.


Sophomores

Course work includes: Food industry II, human nutrition II, food as culture, food safety and sanitation (an intro to microbiology), and new product design. .Students participate in the Lyman Hall FFA Chapter and continue to develop a portfolio and build skills to prepare for college and future careers in the food science industry.


Juniors

Course work introduces students to human nutrition III, food formulation, methods of food preservation, the culture of food, food industry III, food quality control and HACCP. Students participate in the Lyman Hall FFA Chapter and continue to develop a portfolio and skills to prepare for college and future careers in food science.


Seniors

Course work includes food chemistry, food microbiology, food industry IV, the culture of food II, ag marketing, new product design, senior capstone project. Students

participate in the Lyman Hall FFA Chapter and continue to develop a portfolio and

 build skills to prepare for college and future careers in food science.
